Original houses from the 1960s and 1970s

Houses from Deltona's first years were built before the EPA's 1973 and 1978 bans on spray-applied asbestos surfacing materials. If yours still has its original ceilings, or texture added in those years, have it tested before anyone wets or scrapes it.

Later houses

Much of Deltona was built after the bans. A newer house is less likely to have asbestos texture, though it isn't ruled out for ceilings applied through the 1980s. When in doubt, a test is a small cost next to an abatement cleanup.
